Baylor Beats Iowa to Win the 2013 National Invitational Tournament, and it Is Not Even Close at 74-54

2013 National Invitational Tournament (NIT) Results

Round 5 – NIT Final Championship Game:

#2 Baylor eliminated #3 Iowa 74-54 to win the 2013 National Invitational Tournament Championship Game.
 Baylor Guard Pierre Jackson had his 4th consecutive double-double with 17 points and 10 assists to lead the Bears to their 1st National Invitational Tournament title.
 The Hawkeyes could not find the basket when the 2nd half opened, missing 8 of their first 10 shots, Baylor went on a 14-5 run, and Iowa never recovered.
 Jackson led the Big 12 in scoring and assists this season, the first major-conference player to lead his conference in both since Franklin High (Seattle) graduate Jason Terry did it for Arizona in 1998-1999.

Round 4 – NIT Semifinals:

#2 Baylor (the Region 1 Winner) eliminated #3 Brigham Young (the Region 2 Winner) 76-70

#2 Maryland (the Region 3 Winner) was upset by #3 Iowa (the Region 4 Winner) 71-60

#2 Baylor eliminated #4 Providence 79-68

Region 2:

#3 Brigham Young eliminated #1 Southern Mississippi 79-62

Region 3:

#1 Alabama was upset by #2 Maryland 58-57

Region 4:

#1 Virginia was upset by #3 Iowa 75-64

#2 Baylor eliminated #3 Arizona State 89-86

#4 Providence eliminated #8 Robert Morris 77-68

Region 2:

#1 Southern Mississippi eliminated Louisiana Tech 63-52

#2 Brigham Young eliminated #7 Mercer 90-71

#2 Maryland eliminated #3 Denver 62-52
