On Paper, This Week’s Major College Football Action Does Not Look Exciting

Only 4 ranked teams clash this week as the 5th week of major college football looks like a work stoppage about to happen—there are only 54 games this weekend so a lot of teams have a bye week to rest some players with injuries and contemplate the future ahead.

The only significant games are #9 West Virginia (3-0) hosting #25 Baylor (3-0), and #14 Ohio State (4-0) traveling to #20 Michigan State (3-1).

All of the other AP Top 25 teams are playing unranked teams and should win, or drop in the polls the following Monday.

As if this weekend was not exciting enough, the scoring will be less as well since there are only 3 AA opponents in action, and 10 in-state rivalries going on, which should make the scoring and scores less than normal.

Only one game among unranked teams sticks out: A couple of unbeatens—Texas Tech (3-0) travels to Iowa State (3-0).

So at least 2 more unbeaten teams will lose their first game this weekend. Will it be West Virginia, Baylor, Texas Tech or Iowa State? We shall see who can keep pace with the best of the ranked teams.
